Leerfahrt
A Leerfahrt is an empty run, a trip without a passenger: the approach to the patient, the return from the destination, or a ride cancelled too late.
It costs fuel, driver wages and vehicle time without a ride being billed; the insurer pays for the prescribed ride, not the way there.
Most empty runs arise in dispatch: a return not planned with the outbound leg, or two vehicles to the same destination.
